Rodeo is a new Web3 social app by the people behind Foundation, and its gaining popularity fast as more and more artists and collectors gain access. With a Zora-meets-Instagram blend of both aesthetic and functionality, the “like” button is replaced with a mint function.
Members can create posts of sketches, works in progress, finished pieces, pretty much anything, whether it be JPG, PNG, GIF, MOV, or MP4. These posts are then available to collect as Open Editions for 24 hours, and populate a scrolling home feed, but the real secret sauce is that your feed also shows all the art posts your friends have minted from other people. This opens up a great layer of organic discoverability and reach.
The platform is built on Base Chain, so creating and collecting comes with negligible transaction fees (0.0001ETH). For every piece collected, the artist receives 0.00005 ETH.
Whilst the community grows, it seems positive all round, as everyone enjoys seeing new art and collecting from each other, much the way you would like your friends posts on traditional web2 sites.
Here’s my profile. If you are on Rodeo, please follow me and I’ll be sure to follow back!
